Dr. Deighan consulted with the famed doctor, Robert Atkins, M.D. from 1999 until the untimely death of Dr. Atkins in early Spring of 2003. Dr. Atkins is most famous for "The Atkins Diet". Dr. Deighan indicated that the regimen should be rephrased and not referred to as a diet since no one liked being on a diet. Dr. Deighan prompted the change to "The Atkins Low Carbohydrate Lifestyle".
Dr. Atkins was the grandfather of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in the United States. Padraic Deighan strategized and consulted on many of the projects launched prior to the doctor's death. He also worked on the transition of the practice to the associates of the practice.
Dr. Deighan worked closely with the doctor and was in the process of integrating cosmetic dermatology into the New York City facility when doctor Atkins passed away.
Many of the successful strategies of Dr. Atkins and his practice where developed or implemented by Dr. Deighan.
